Season 3?

How could I possibly be discussing Season 3 when Season 2 never even really ended? Well I can do anything I want and right now I’m telling you that the first episode of Season 3 of The Oddist will be recorded on May 22nd, 2010. Hold on to your horses and run it up the flagpole. Here it comes so hold your breath and make a wish.

Second Season Fiasco

So Alex and I recorded the “last show” of the second season. Yes, that’s right no “Best of” show no big finale, just Alex and I talking bullshit as usual. In true Oddist fashion I never turned the mics on while we were recording, well they were on but the gain was turned all the way down so you can’t really hear anything. I don’t know what the fate of The Oddist is at this point. I am going through some massive “growing pains” with owning a house and working on my secret project, doing UFO lectures and other things. Hopefully The Oddist will raise it’s drunken head again sometime soon but until then I wanted to thank you all for listening and responding to the show. I appreciate it more than you’ll ever know. I may update the site with new stories and upcoming info but again…no promises. Alex, Sara Jean thank you so much for everything and making The Oddist so wonderful you’ll never know how much being with you meant to me.

Episode 18 Season 2: Tricks vs. Treats

Well the announcement has been made this is one of the 3 final episodes of this season’s podcast. Alex and John drink apple pucker and chat about eating silverware and having sex with dogs all while John does funny voices. Hear all of Alex’s big news and be fascinated by this total and complete show that even includes a guest interview! That is correct this episode has an interview! John talks with comedians Joel Fragomeni, from JoelRadio.net, and Harry “The Bat outta Hell” Artin. Joel thinks he has figured out why David Carradine died and how Balloon Boy disproves all UFO sightings. Harry just wants to pull the teeth out of a squirrel. After the interview is, of course, Waiting for Soup wherein Alex and John discuss some of the best movies you can watch during this Halloween season. It’s a long show clocking in at just over 2 hours but at least we’re giving you something to listen to as The Oddist starts to vanish into the ether. Happy Halloween.

Just when you thought the show had vanished into the ether. You were wrong! Although the shows aren’t posted as lickity-split as they once were here is a jam-packed 44 minute episode with everything you love. What do you love? Octoberfest, Old People, Sara Jean, Kayne West, laughter and stories. Find out about Sara Jean’s love of the “lazy river” and her encounters with cranky old people. Hear SJ sing songs about Father Abraham? The basement is filled with flies and creepy crawlers and if feeding the world means taking more tax money from John…then do it. Soda cans and swords, cheaters wearing signs and a story that lets John and Sara Jean take an imagination trip. If you didn’t love The Oddist before, you will now.

Episode 16 Season 2: Episode 17

John and Alex tried to record a show after they recorded episode 15, thinking that John would get his act together and record episode 16 with Sara Jean. Of course that didn’t happen…but it will! So this is this is 17 as 16. Don’t expect anything fantastic as it is also the shortest episode of The Oddist ever. Coming in at just over 15 minutes you’ll thank whatever deity you might that it is not any longer than that. If you listen to episode 15 and John and Alex sound drunk…wait until you hear this slurring, babbling mess. Although John thinks it is “Pretty Good!” Hopefully the stories of Kenny Tessel, Fat smugglers and diapers will keep you coming back for the next REAL episode with Sara Jean.

Episode 15 Season 2: Sad Dad vs. The TV star

Alcohol is a hell of a thing. John and Alex celebrate The Woodward Dream Cruise by not going to it and getting wasted while recording. Although John reveals the possibility of his becoming a television star if you listen underneath the drunken slurring of his words you find the pain and sadness of acceptance at parental mortality. Alex reviews the movie District 9 and brings us up to date on all the latest news involving glued penises, cat porn, grooming pubic hair, and dead bodies. The truth comes out about John’s dating status and during what is sure to be remembered as the worst shot ever consumed on the show, Elijah Craig Whiskey and Apple Pucker, it takes eleven seconds for our hosts to recover. If you don’t remember this show after listening to it no one will be mad at you because no one remembers recording it.

Episode 14 Season 2: King Cobra vs. The Gypsy

There have been many episodes, of The Oddist, that were recorded drunk and they sound drunk. This episode was recorded sober but it sounds like the conversations people have when they are stoned out of their minds. It’s good that Douglas Adams is mentioned because John and Sara Jean talk about life, the universe and everything…literally and demons, giant cows, goat kings, helicopter prison escapes and John’s baldness. What was Sara Jean in her past life? You’ll find out. What is Sara Jean’s big announcement? You’ll find out. You’ll also find out how the movie “Knowing” ends as John tries to save everyone 2 hours by spoiling an already terrible film. None of this show is right or wrong, good or bad because those are human created concepts dude…whoa, that is deep.

Is John’s drinking becoming a problem? How do you get kicked out of a casino? Find out! A silly little episode that is everything you want from The Oddist. This is the perfect background noise for when you are home alone trying to figure out why you are home alone. Someone doesn’t make it for the “Waiting for Soup” portion of the show…Alex or John? Place your bets!

Episode 12 Season 2: One Nice, One Sober and John

This is it! The halfway point of no return! The first meeting of co-hosts! Listen to the excitement of Alex and Sara Jean trying to hold the show together while John slurs words and makes little to no sense. News stories are read, sounds are combined an iPod Nano is given away in the most confusing of manners. The silliest of shows but still containing, what could have been, startling stories of suicide and battery attacks if John would have been coherent enough to string a rational thought together. If you’ve never experienced someone who is in the “I love you guys” stage of drunkenness then enjoy this laugh packed show.

Episode 11 Season 2: Mixing Board Funtastic

Sara Jean and John have some fun with the settings on the mixing board while discussing forbidden beats, old graduates and drunk animals. Somehow our hosts solve a mystery while Sara Jean tries to recruit women for a version of “The Dating Game” with John as the prize. John also pulls together an interview! Is he shy? Is he tempered? Well he is Corey Hall comedian, movie reviewer and fellow podcaster…or is he? Corey also admits to peeing his pants because he hates the cold? People should be jealous of John because his “boob” is a “neck”. Also, somehow this episode contains a spoiler for the movie “My Sister’s Keeper”.

New shows on the way

There are currently 2 shows that have been recorded, one with Alex (Episode 13) as well as the show where Sara Jean and Alex meet (Episode 12). Sara Jean and I (John) are going to be recording her next show (Episode 11) this week. Even though all these shows have been recorded out of order they will be posted in order and I can only warn you that Episode 12 is a fantastic show thanks to Alex and Sara Jean, I am wasted mostly incoherent and worthless during the entire show. Episode 12 is also the least edited show in The Oddist’s history you will love Sara Jean and Alex and hate me.

Episode 10 Season 2: The Jim Beam Fire Bath

As soon as the Jim Beam shots are consumed John and Alex find themselves in a world of fire baths, bra prices and prostitutes. It also seems that Jim Beam is an actual truth serum. Find out if it was John or Alex that kissed a boy and which one of them only had a crush on a boy. Dirty refrigerators and a penis being bitten off are the last hope for humanity as John discusses the time he was dead. Waiting for soup is the usual trainwreck and John didn’t know that Alex was “fake” drinking at the bar. Alex believes this show really “tests” the listeners.
